Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, Red Deer, AB
is a Stephen Ministry Congregation
Ask and it will be given to you;
seek and you will find;
knock and the door will be opened to you.
For everyone who asks receives;
he who seeks finds;
and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.
Jesus, in Matthew 7:7-8
In 2010 the Voters Assembly of MCLC unanimously passed a motion to become a Stephen Ministry congregation. That same year, the congregation budgeted to send Pastor Peter Van Katwyk and lay member, Betty Ann McKinty to Pittsburgh for the leadership training conference. Shortly after their return from the leadership training conference, they began the recruiting process for members of MCLC congregation to serve as Stephen Ministers. Since then, nine members of MCLC have taken the fifty hour course and have been commissioned as Stephen Ministers. In January 2012, two additional lay members who are trained Stephen Ministers, Doug Halldorson and Ray Lang, have taken the Stephen Ministry leadership training. This four person Leadership team is now in the process of training 7 more members of our congregation to become Stephen Ministers.
